The music on this album is a collection of pieces composed, produced and posted at jamesdeagle.bandcamp.com between July 2017 and January 2018, and as such you'll hear for yourself how they reflect, vacillate between and sometimes combine my key interests as composer, which is to say free jazz, avant-garde orchestral, and the occasional funk intrusion. To be honest, though, whenever I set out to create a new piece I rarely have any specific "genre" in mind, as I'd rather start with a melody and let my intuition guide me towards a full arrangement, and then simply allow the song to be whatever it wants to be. Anyway, I'd rather be a creator than a classifier.

This is only the beginning, and so I hope you'll travel on this journey with me as I explore more unusual musical landscapes on upcoming releases that are already in the works.

All tracks were created entirely on a computer running OpenBSD (versions 6.0 through 6.2) using MuseScore and Audacity. What you hear as instruments are nothing more than clever simulations - this time around.

All tracks are released under the terms of a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-BY-SA 3.0) license. I'm a pretty reasonable fella, so please do virtually whatever you like with my stuff - just don't claim you wrote the original or release an exact or derivative version under different terms than those under which it is offered. This output is my contribution to the online gift economy as my attempt to begin the monumental process of giving back to music what music has been giving me my entire life, so please pass it on in the same spirit or not at all.
